2015 NX

The fourth-generation Lexus GS showcases updates to both the interior and exterior this year.  With a sharper, sleeker look both inside and out, the 2016 Lexus GS also boasts upgraded technology and safety features to make this sedan appealing to a wide range of drivers.

Although the interior isn’t completely overhauled from 2015, it has received some key updates. New interior trim selections include Matte Walnut, Laser Cut Wood, and Linear 3D, with a Naguri Aluminum trim available exclusively in the F-Sport package. These stylish trims pair incredibly well with new leather colors like Noble Brown, Chateau, and the F-Sport’s exclusive Rioja Red. Navigation systems now come standard in the GS 350 and GS 450h, and the 12.3-inch dashboard infotainment touch-screen features an easier to use display. All GS models now get a larger 4.2-inch multi-function gauge display as well. For your entertainment needs, DVD compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity, MP3 sound enhancement and 5.1 surround sound come standard. For the real audiophiles, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system is available as an added option. The 2016 GS also features the iOS and Android app-based Lexus Enform Remote that gives drivers the ability to start or stop the engine and climate system remotely.
From a profile view, the 2016 Lexus GS looks pretty similar to the 2015 GS. Most of the body panels remain unchanged, and the GS still retains the luxurious look it’s always had. The noticeable updates are found on the front of the vehicle. The grille of the GS is now a single piece, rather than two, and brings a sharp new look to the front-end. The headlights sit on an LED strip, and are separated into high-beam and low-beam elements. The taillights, while maintaining the same shape, now have a new LED arrangement for 2016. The rear bumper gets a slight makeover, but overall keeps its appealing shape.
Under the Hood
One of the biggest changes with the 2016 GS lineup is the addition of the GS 200t with a 4-cylinder engine option. This new 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine boasts a strong 241 HP and 258 pound-feet of torque. The 2016 GS 350 is equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 and showcases both direct and port injection with 311 HP and 277 pound-feet of torque, which is a solid improvement over last year’s model. Both models use the same 8-speed automatic transmission, and are rear-wheel drive. The GS 450h is the fastest of the bunch, while also boasting the best fuel-efficiency. An Atkinson cycle 3.5-liter V-6 and water-cooled permanent magnet electric motor make this hybrid both extremely powerful at 338 HP, and incredibly fuel efficient at 34 mpg highway.
With an optional Lexus Safety System+ package that includes Lane Departure Alert, Pedestrian Detection, Pre-Collision System, Steering Assist and more, you’ll feel safe and in control in your new GS. This year’s models also come equipped with 10 airbags, including seat-mounted side airbags, side curtain airbags and front knee airbags. Lexus’ Enform Service Connect also offers maintenance and service information via their mobile app so that you’re aware of what needs to be fixed.
